The Third Statement by the
United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship

Continuing the demand for Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva
to dissolve the Thai parliament.

The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) rally last Saturday on the streets of Bangkok was held to pay respect to Bangkokians and to explain the purpose of the red-shirts rally.

Our primary goal remains maintaining pressure to force PM Abhisit to dissolve the parliament and to engage alternatives to restore peace and harmony in Thailand.

To date we have received tremendous support and understanding from Bangkokians.

The government of PM Abhisit was not established with legitimacy or democracy, but rather, established with the support of the Thai military. The government uses double standards in its administration, with corrupt practices occurring in many government projects.

In short, we say that the Democrat Party government of Abhisit Vejjajiva is the centre of all the conflicts in our country.

We demand that the government return the power to the people and hold fresh elections.

Apart from this, we have no other demands.

As a group the UDD will only negotiate with PM Abhisit, as he is the only one with the authority to dissolve parliament.

As soon as he agrees to our demand we will immediately end all demonstrations.

We hope for a fair and just democratic election and pledge to support whatever the outcome is. We likewise hope that other parties will also accept whatever the outcome of an election is and that all sides of the political spectrum will then work for the prosperity of Thailand.
